Glass Futures is proud to announce the appointment of Adrian Curry as the new Chair of its Board of Directors, succeeding Mike Houghton, Chief Commercial Officer of Process Industries Software at Siemens. The organisation extends its deepest gratitude to Mike for his invaluable leadership and dedication during his tenure.
Adrian Curry, formerly Deputy Chair of the Board, brings a wealth of experience and a long-standing commitment to Glass Futures. As the former Managing Director of Encirc, Adrian has been a passionate advocate for innovation and sustainability in the glass industry. His leadership was instrumental in several pioneering industrial-scale trials conducted in collaboration with Glass Futures at Encirc's Derrylin site.
Adrian Curry is a highly respected figure in the global glass manufacturing industry, known for his visionary leadership and commitment to sustainability. With over 27 years of experience at Encirc, including 19 years as Managing Director, Adrian played a pivotal role in transforming the company into one of Europe's leading glass manufacturers and fillers.
One of the most notable achievements under Adrian's guidance was the 2021 biofuel trial, which showcased the potential of sustainable glass production. Working closely with Glass Futures, Encirc produced bottles made from 100% recycled glass using ultra-low-carbon biofuels. This groundbreaking initiative reduced the carbon footprint of each bottle by up to 90%, setting a new benchmark for environmental responsibility in the industry.
Adrian's appointment comes at a pivotal time as Glass Futures continues to lead the industry's transition toward net zero. His vision aligns with the organisation's mission to foster innovation and sustainability, encouraging collaboration across the global glassmaking community.
Commenting on his new role, Adrian Curry said: "Having worked closely with Glass Futures on pioneering trials that have reshaped what's possible in sustainable glassmaking, I'm honoured to take on the role of Chair. I encourage everyone across the glass value chain including manufacturers, suppliers, brands, and end-users, to join our global network and help drive the innovation needed to secure a low-carbon future for glass."
A former President of British Glass, Adrian also serves on the Board of Directors at Gallo Glass and remains a respected figure in the industry for his forward-thinking approach and commitment to positive impact.
Justin Kelly, CEO of Glass Futures, welcomed Adrian's appointment, stating: "Adrian has been a champion of sustainable innovation in glass for many years.
